Building capacity across Victoria to respond to, empower and engage young people from refugee and culturally diverse backgrounds
From 2001, CMYI began hosting the Statewide Multicultural Youth Issues Network of community sector practitioners, supporting networking and sector development across Victoria and creating a direct channel to a wide network of providers to inform CMYI’s policy advocacy work. The same year, CMYI began delivering the Young Refugees in the Picture Project, working to support local agencies to address gaps in support to local newly arrived and refugee young people until 2007. In early 2007 CMYI engaged with local governments across the state to inform the development of the Inclusive Local Government guide in 2007, a widely accessed, targeted resource to support the engagement of refugee and culturally diverse young people through the range of programs, services and opportunities offered at the local level.
