For 35 years, CMY has stood as a beacon of hope, resilience, and change; a shaper of culture, systems, attitudes and behaviours.
The history of the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) is a story of continuity and change. While we have adapted to remain responsive to young people’s changing experiences and societal developments over time, CMY has worked to uphold core values stemming from a human rights approach:
- We believe respect for everyone’s human rights is essential for a fair and equal society.
- We believe everyone should be able to feel like they belong and can participate fully.
- We believe diversity is a cornerstone of Australia’s success.

Language conventions change overtime and this history may contain language that we would not choose to use in the current context, but which is historically relevant.
